Digital Education Station: Personalized Learning

Superintendent Dr. Vannasdall discusses Arcadia Unified's journey to personalized learning in the latest field trip edition of the Arcadia Unified Digital Education Station. 
Arcadia Unified Ranked as Best Place to Teach in Los Angeles
The Arcadia Unified School District ranks as the best place to teach in the Los Angeles Area according to Niche.com. Niche also rated Arcadia Unified at the top of the class in several other categories, naming the district as the #4 best place to teach in California, the #15 best school district in the state, and gave Arcadia Unified A+ ratings in overall school district, academics, teachers, and college prep. Chromebooks for the Summer Grades 6-11!

Students in grades 6-12 have been assigned devices for use in school and at home through the school year. After considering all options, we are excited to let you know that we will
not collect the Chromebooks from students in grades 6-11 at the end of the school year! Read more here.
Arcadia Unified Doubles Taxpayers Savings to $80 Million
It was only a couple of months ago that the Arcadia Unified School District announced a bond refinance plan that would result in an estimated $40 million in savings to Arcadia taxpayers. Arcadia Unified Gives Every Student a Chromebook

Each of the nearly 10,000 students in the Arcadia Unified School District now has their own Chromebook. All middle school and high school students can even bring their Chromebooks home to use. The 1:1 Student to Technology device program began three years and was fully implemented on the first day of school this year.

Outdoor Science School

Attention all 6th graders! OSS is right around the corner so it's time to start getting ready! OSS packets have been sent home, so make sure you return those to your science teachers as soon as possible. All checks need to be turned in to Ms. Tan in the office in order to secure your spot for the best field trip at Dana. More details will be announced in science classes. You don't want to miss this amazing experience!
Pali Camp for 8th Graders

Here are some important reminders for parents of 8th grade students attending Pali:
  • All Pali payments are due by October 5
  • Pali will email health forms to parents by October 1.
  • All forms are due by October 23.
  • If your student needs medicine at Pali, please be sure to have their doctor complete this medication form and return it to Mrs Hamblen by October 23. 
  • Medication must be in the original container and delivered to the health office before the morning of November 6.
Cross Country

For the first time, Dana is offering cross country through the 210 league! Anyone is welcome to join. If you missed the information meeting but would like to join, please see Ms. Seyler in room 23 or email mseyler@ausd.net. Practices start September 11 and the last meet is November 9.

Tuesdays 7:00 - 7:45 a.m. @ Dana
Thursdays 7:00 - 7:45 a.m. and 3:15 - 4:30 p.m. @ Dana
Saturdays 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. @ First Ave. and Arcadia Park (meet @ First Ave.)

Cooking Club

Cooking Club is getting the fry pans fired up and ready to go! The club will be meeting every Wednesday at lunch in room 10 from September 27 - December 20. All students interested in joining Cooking Club MUST come to the short informational meeting on Wednesday, September 20 in room 10 at 11:50 a.m. sharp. Bring your lunch with you and eat at the meeting while Ms. Nelson covers important information concerning sign ups and the lab fee for the club. There are a limited number of spots available. This is a great opportunity for Band and Orchestra students to join so they can do some cooking this year. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Nelson in room 10 or email her at lnelson@ausd.net!
